What's in the Bag

Pony Girl thought it a fun idea when she was challenged to show her purse and it's contents on Friday. I took the challenge from her and her goes.....you are suppose to show the purse, the contents, and how much you paid.

I love my little Brahmin bag that I bought for myself about a year ago. I had been eye balling them in the glass case at Dillard's department store because I loved the croc look and the color of the leather. I also have a black leather one that is Brighton that is made just the same that I love, love, love. I paid too much for it and even I thought I was nuts, but I have gotten my money's worth and you do get what you pay for most of the time. Now I am hooked on Brahmin! And don't kid yourself I do have bigger ones, this is just the one I use the most.

I got to where every time I bought a new purse it was so heavy it hurt my back when I would go shopping. That is how this style purse became a staple for me. I can cross my body with the strap, it dosen't weigh much and I have no pain. Trust me when you get older the pain helps you make a whole diffrent set of choices. You see I have arthritis from a horseback riding injury and and top that with scholosis in my spine, so pain does happen to me.
I have it down to a fine science and have learned to only carry the basics with this little jewel. The only thing I forgot to show is my cell phone and I also carry my Nikon Coolpix S550 in it also.

So if any of you want to take the bag challenge be my guest and let me know you did! It is kinda interesting!

Better than the alternative.....

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a good one. My husband, mom, and I went for a short little road trip and had lunch and visited my in-laws over in Arkansas.

I got alot of birthday cards, as well as telephone calls and the first time ever for me blog and Facebook well wishes! That is so much fun to me and very interesting how our communication is changing.

This sweet little crocheted heart bookmark came in my birthday card and it was handmade and sent by my friend Beth.

I got flowers from Carolyn and Bill and it made my day brighter. I am blessed to have nice and thoughtful friends.

My mother gave me this Trail of Pony's horse to add to my collection.

And hubby got me a new iphone and I love it..........actually he got it for me early in the month, but it was my birthday gift just the same, and to carry it in. . . . . . .

a new bag for an old hag...... :)

PEEK- A- BOO

I SEE YOU!

and I am cute!

Isn't this one of the cutest little faces you have saw for awhile!

She has got the oddest color eyes I have ever saw.

Sometimes they look gold, sometimes they look green and sometimes they look blue. I guess it is the classic case of Hazel eyes.

She is just about 10 weeks old I would guess. Why do we not know this little detail?

Well, our good friends came home last Sunday night from a weekend art show and found her at their house, dumped. Our friends live in the country and have that problem, like all country folks do. It seems like the trend for dumping animals of all kinds is getting worse with the economy. Our friends have cats and not dogs so and they don't have a fence for her, and live by the highway. The husband wants to keep her, but the wife does not. They have just rescued 2 badly banged up kittens from the ditch by the highway.

She says taking care of 6 cats is enough! :)

She looks like a purebred Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and fits the AKC breed description.

and not a American Staffordshire Terrier (Pit).

She is sweet, smart, and willing to please and loves people.

Watch this video and see her bounce like a bunny!

She would be a great dog for the person famaliar with this breed.

If you are interested in her being a part of your family leave me a message on this post with your name and email address.

Remodel addition

We decided to add to the basement remodel with a new patio, before we had the new doors and windows installed.

The work got started by ripping up the old sandstone. The stone has always been very
dangerous because it get slick with moss and it is like walking on glass, especially after a rain.
To kill the moss you had to use Chlorox and scrub it.
It was way past it's prime anyway, so time for a change.

As usual when you do a re do of something it never goes as expected. The original stone
was laid on an 8 inch bed of concrete. They have to jack hammer and take that up.
Woo, I bet they were not to happy to discover that little surprise!

Today they came in and finished up with the cleanup and did the re bar for the concrete
enforcements and laid out the forms to form the concrete. I don't think they will be back to pour
and work the cement until they will have 3 days above 60 degrees.

It is going to be stamped and colored so it will look like slate stone pavers.

The wheel barrows are all lined up waiting for them to come back!

Daddy

Do you ever get over the feeling of loss when you loose one of the most important figures in your life?

No, I am not sure you do.

I was daddy's girl and I have been missing him so much lately.

This is the daddy I remember as a young kid below.

This is the Daddy who showed us how much family meant.

This is the daddy who had spent his whole life working hard, living the best he could, teaching his kids by example to be honest, trustworthy and hardworking. He also taught us you needed to leave time for fun and adventure to make memories with each other.

This is the daddy who went to War in Germany with a troop of boys and made sure he did not lose a one. That was a big accomplishment I am sure, but he didn't talk about it.

This is the daddy who instilled in us it wasn't the amount of money you had, but the amount of love you gave and if you do your very best it is enough.
The daddy that taught me to ride a bicycle, and a horse and how to take care of it properly.

This is the daddy who liked to take us to the mountains in Colorado and New Mexico every
summer to go Jeeping.
We all loved that and it was some of the most fun we had!

This the same daddy that all the neighborhood kids adored as much as me.
He would pull us around in the snow behind the tractor on a sled he homemade in our garage.

I don't know why, but the other morning as I was making the bed I thought to myself that I
don't think I can remember what his voice sounded like.

That really got to me, and I must say

it still does.

If I could only hear it one more time. . . . . . even if there was a recording. . . .but there isn't.

Daddy was a young 66 when he died after a 2 year battle with lung cancer and I still miss him like it was yesterday, and it has been 23 years now. My dad had been a smoker most of his life and he had beat that habit ten years earlier, and it could have been environmentally caused, but......

I always think that when people smoke they really don't understand the long term ramifications of what they are doing to themselves or to those who love them.

If you smoke think about it, your kids more than likely are.

Oklahoma Tornado

I want you all to know we are fine and surrounding areas had lots of rain and high winds but no tornado. I have heard they had some trees down and property damage scattered around. We live in the north east part of Oklahoma and have our fair share of this sort of thing. The bad tornado was southwest of Oklahoma City about 4 hours away.

I just got word from Sheri that my long time girlfriend Mary, who is Sheri's sister lost her house in the Lone Grove tornado last night.
Remember my Thanksgiving post about Sheri and Mary my friends who are sisters.
Mary, Buddy, Ryan and Katherine, their mother is okay, and her care facility in Ardmore was not hit. Mary and her husband are teachers in the Lone Grove school system and they were having a basketball game and they were evacuated to the basement.
Mary and family live between Ardmore and Lone Grove in the country and it jumped Ardmore and hit right where they live in an area of homes on 5 and 10 acre plots.
They were surrounded by huge pecan and other kinds of trees, which are all gone now.
The important thing is they were not hurt and they will be able to rebuild. I know they are in shock, but they will be fine, but it will be a trial for them to get back to normal and will take several months. They will have to find a place to live temporarily until they get rebuilt.
My heart goes out to them and keep them in your prayers.

My Shopping trip!

I have been shopping online looking at all things for the house. I fell in love with this chair!

This one is pretty neat too. Either one of them would look good in the basement!

I like this for myself.....
oh ,I am suppose to be shopping for the house, so sorry, I get distracted so easily!

Isn't this the cutest pillow? My friend TrainWreck would love it!

Then this is the cutest ottoman isn't it?

Cute Cute Cute

I would like to get some kind of a really neat area rug and I love old Navajo rugs, but the problem is I need really large ones, so anything like this is out of the question.

Now I am so tuckered out from shopping
I think I will have some biscuits and gravy!

A girl can't live without Chocolate! Even if it's on your biscuits!
