Lots of "visitors" in the Wildwood

Here is MaMa watching the babies

Today we had twin fawns up near the house to entertain us. It still amazes me what a joy it is to have unexpected "visitors" come to the house! We have had a lot more wildlife coming around the house than we have had for quite some time. I imagine it is because we lost both of our dogs to heaven this past year. We have raised a den of foxes this spring, we still have visiting raccoon juveniles at night, and now the fawns and their Mama. Maybe we will have quail back this winter if we are lucky! I know most country people would think "big deal", wildlife, but we live in town and so it is exciting to us! I think my new zoom lens Ross bought me is working out. You are not going to believe I get most of these shots through the windows while I am in the house! That keeps the deer from smelling me and running away!

Happy Birthday

Today would have been our dad's 89th birthday. We miss you dad!

Raccoons OUR NIGHTLY VISITORS

There are 4 raccoons but only 2 have been coming up on a regular basis. One other is shy and the 4th one is extremely shy and only hangs out in the tree. They are cute but hopefully they will move on soon and not make a pest out of themselves. They were here when Zane and Jayme were, but we did not realize it at that time. It would have been fun for them to watch the raccoons feed, sorry kids! We just thought the squirrels were cleaning out the feeder we had for them, Ross feeds them well. It is funny they come feed from about 9:30 for about 90 minutes and then they are gone back to the woods.

Mom's surgery

Mom had her gall bladder surgery at 7am and she is doing well. They were able to do the laproscopic procedure on her and it only took about 75 minutes in the operating room. She came home from Tulsa St. John's by 1:30 pm. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts.
August 19th update:
It has been a week now and Mom is doing really well after her surgery. She said it hurt more than people told her the laproscopic was going to....but she has forgotten just how bad being cut open feels! :)

Mom & Dad became involved in square dancing in about 1956 and have had the best of friends during that time and it still continues to this day. Blessed are those who have that kind of friendship! It is truly life long and endures the hard times as well as the good. This is the best group of people anyone can ever know. We love them dearly.

WOOLAROC, OSAGE COUNTY, OKLAHOMA

We spent one beautiful summer morning at the Woolaroc Mountain Men encampment and it was a fun and very enlightening experience.
We were able to shoot black powder, throw tomahawks, and get a history lesson on the lives of mountain men in the 1800's United States.
